My other company, @designREMODEL, specializes in remodeling kitchens or bathrooms, and as part of the process, we often have to shut the main water line down so that we can modify or work on the plumbing. There’s nothing like a fixture popping open during the demo and doing a mad scramble to find and shut off the water! To avoid this and make it easy for anyone to locate and shut off (or turn on) the main water supply, we started tagging the shut-off valve with the bright tags shown in the picture. Once we complete the project, we leave the tags in place for homeowners and anyone else who might need to find the water shut down valve. We also tag the sprinkler valve (if there is one) and allowing it to be located if the need arises.
As part of our onboarding process, we will locate and tag the shutdown valves for all new clients of @homeWATCH.
FYI: I would suggest you locate your main water shut down valve and check its function. Many times we have gone to shut down the main water valve, and have found it either frozen or corroded. If this is the case, I strongly recommend you call your local plumber and have them replace the valve. You don’t want to find yourself in a situation where you have water gushing all over, and you find you cannot turn the water main off.
